ABOUT US
Bethesda EC Church is a healing community where God transforms people into his likeness toward unity in the faith. Our mission is to advance the Good News of Jesus Christ throughout our community in order to make disciples where life-to-life relationships empower people to experience
God's complete restoration in Jesus Christ.
OUR VISION
Bethesda Church is a healing community where people will breathe in the grace of God and exhale an active faith.
It is our vision that a healing community will take the Good News into homes, neighborhoods, the workplace, educational settings, and other places where people gather.

It is our vision that a healing community will be a safe place for truth-seekers to ask troubling and difficult questions and where God’s Word can be planted gently within their hearts.

It is our vision that a healing community will provide intentional disciplining in “life-to-life” settings for transformed followers to connect in meaningful ways with God and others within and beyond the body.

It is our vision that a healing community will be an embassy of hope that equips committed disciples to serve Christ’s greater kingdom especially on the world’s turf.

It is our vision that a healing community will unnest faithful ambassadors to launch out individually in commissioned ministries and corporately in new churches.
OUR DNA
We help people to come to know the truth
......by taking good news into homes, neighborhoods, the workplace,
educational settings, and other places where people gather.

We truly want to represent the glory of God’s kingdom to our surrounding community. We want to expose God’s love in ways that will actually penetrate people’s lives.

We pledge to do our best to develop and preserve authentic connections with people who sense that they are far away from God. We want to lovingly nurture these kinds of friendships with people who are already right in our midst.

We want them to know that we care by offering free community resources to find marital, family, and financial assistance for their lives. We want to do this so that they will sense the relevance of God’s kingdom in their lives and begin to seriously pursue a relationship with him.

We help people find relationships with God
...by being a safe place for truth-seekers to ask troubling and difficult
questions and where God’s Word can be planted gently within their hearts.

We will do our best to help each new guest to sense our genuine hospitality and to find connection within our body. We are very interested in helping people to foremost sense that they belong here.

Because we sincerely want to help people find new life, we will encourage them to honestly explore and wrestle with the claims of Jesus Christ. That’s why our celebration services will feature music and messages that speak primarily about a life of renewal.

Our hope is that seekers of truth will realize that God is closer than they first thought. As they are challenged in their thinking and embraced by new friends, we trust that God’s Word will spring to life for them and help them along their journey with Jesus Christ.

We help people grow to be like Christ
...by providing intentional “life-to-life” discipling for transformed followers
to connect in meaningful ways with God and others within and beyond
the body.

In order to help every believer to embark on a spiritual journey with Jesus, we will assist new followers to develop their own consistent daily devotional times with God. Likewise, we will do our best to help all believers to move deeper into God’s Word so that we can all reach unity in the faith and live Christ-like lives.

Behind it all is our focus on developing an intentional process for believers to engage one another in life-to-life relationships. By gathering people into small clusters of three or four, we are confident that spiritual depth can better be transmitted life to life as the Holy Spirit engages open and willing hearts.

We will also provide small groups, gender-specific ministries, spiritual retreats and other interactive events in order to enhance the developing growth of believers in Jesus Christ.

We help people to serve one another
...by becoming an embassy of hope that equips committed disciples to
serve Christ’s greater kingdom especially on the world’s turf.

Our goal is to help each committed disciple to reach their God-given potential in Christ. This begins when we understand our own usefulness in God’s family. Since people are not wired to make the exact same contribution—being given different temperaments, passions, and spiritual gifts—we will help people to find their unique investment for bearing fruit in God’s kingdom.

Once committed disciples understand their own unique contributions, we will do our best to train them to serve the needs of others within the church and beyond. We offer apprenticeships in the areas of teaching, serving, and leading. We also offer opportunities for people to expand their potential for serving God through ministries within the community and short-term mission trips in other areas of the world.

We help people go into the world
...by unnesting faithful ambassadors to launch out individually in
commissioned ministries and corporately in new churches.

We believe that God desires many of his people to fly beyond their safely-nested places in ministry. We want to recognize, assist and commission those in our midst who have passions and missional callings toward apostolic or pastoral ministries.

We want to faithfully serve God’s kingdom by directing the overflow of ministry into the surrounding regions and beyond the internal scope of the church. We are not only trying to become a healthy missional church ourselves, but hope to be instrumental in planting new churches within our surrounding communities. As we network with community ministries and other missional churches in our region and help to launch people into the world as ambassadors for Christ, we hope to witness the expansive glory of God’s kingdom in the world.

OUR BELIEFS
Believing the Bible to be our final authority for faith and Christian living, we affirm the following:

That the universe is the purposeful creation of a personal, loving, almighty God.

That all human beings are made in the image of the Creator and are of infinite worth.
That our world is under the sway of sin as a result of a historical and a personal human rebellion against God, so that suffering, death and separation from God are the experience of humankind; and that without the intervention of God's grace, this will be the eternal state of all persons.
That Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God, through his virgin birth, sinless life, sacrificial death on the Cross, and glorious resurrection and ascension, graciously offers new life to all who receive him by faith.
That the Holy Spirit, indwelling believers, gives them a desire and an ability to follow biblical standards of conduct in their personal lives and in society.
That the Christian faith is lived in the community of the church, where worship and witness are embodied through the spiritual gifts of its members.
That Jesus Christ will return to this world, bring an end to history as we know it, inaugurate the final judgment, and welcome believers into his eternal kingdom.
